WGSDCA held its first National IPO Championship in 2002 with Judge Mr Lance Collins, Canada.
  
Nationals are held annually in the second half of the year and hosted by an WGSDCA affiliate club in their state.

WGSDCA members from both Australia and New Zealand have competed in WGSDCA National Competitions. WGSDCA Nationals offer IPO 1, 2 & 3, obedience (OB) 1, 2 & 3, Tracking (TR) 1, 2 & 3, FH 1 & 2 and BH.

Maintaining a high standard for the sport WGSDCA set a point score of 270 (vg) in IPO 3 to be eligible to gain the prestigious title of WGSDCA Grand National Champion.
